As a part of Procurement's ongoing effort to improve our inventory processes across U-M, they have partnered with HCA Asset Management, LLC(link is external) to conduct a baseline inventory of Medical School capital equipment, some of which may be located in spaces outside of the Medical School (see building schedule below). The inventory will begin on January 11th, with a special focus on following all University safety precautions, such as maintaining social distance and wearing face coverings.
HCA will be in touch with your area to coordinate the walkthrough of your spaces. In the interim, please contact them at property.control@umich.edu(link sends e-mail) if you have any questions.

The baseline inventory will enable U-M to improve its processes and reduce the administrative burden on departments that results from the biennial inventory. Once the baseline inventory is complete, the data in the M-Pathways Asset Management Module will be updated.
The length of time your unit may need to complete the baseline inventory process will vary based on the number of capital equipment items and the accuracy of the current inventory. HCA staff with U-M Contractor ID badges will be coming to your area to conduct the inventory and will need access to all buildings and rooms.
Procurement thanks you for your support with this important university-wide inventory process. Your assistance will be invaluable in helping ensure the process will be successful. Moving forward, our future inventory-related initiatives include retagging of capital equipment to enable more efficient Radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology and automation/workflow of forms.
If you have any questions about the baseline inventory, please contact property.info@umich.edu(link sends e-mail) or (734) 764-6251.
